Glass: Canadian curation and shows

In 2005 Paul Matosic was invited to curate an exhibition of contemporary British Artists who use glass for the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo Ontario. There was a desire to investigate the fundamental properties of the material rather than exhibit studio style glassware.

An open call was advertised and out of the 200 or so applicants as well as several invited artists six artists were selected. Their work is shown below.

The project also aims to develop an exchange with artists based in Canada who work in similar ways and there was discussion about then combining the two exhibitions to tour around Canada and the USA, as well as Great Britain.

However this part of the project has since changed. CCGG has made links with organisations in Finland and Spain each of which is curating artists from their respective countries. The plan is now to combine all the exhibitions to tour to each country.

There is now the opportunity for this project to be taken up by a suitable venue either as the whole international package or as individual units. In particular the British Artists as listed below.
Incidentally Paul Matosic was also asked by CCGG to develop work for a solo show in the gallery a test run of the proposed exhibit can be seen below or on www.matosic.org.uk.

This work may also be included in any touring show that might develop.
